What a  gorgeous day to welcome aboard America’s finest new Marines at Cherry Point Marine Corp Air Station, in Havelock, NC.   With the help of Rick Askew, of Blue Water Home Construction, LLC, I had such a wonderful time this morning meeting and greeting the new arrivals.  Together we greeted close to 50 Marines,  discussing housing options, new construction, and our lastest subdivisions that are convenient to the Base. Everyone was so receptive and gracious to us and our information. I am so proud to have such fine people watching over America  and I’m thankful for  Cherry Point Marine Corp Air Station, which brings  so many new families into our area.

Croatan Crossing –  Craven County 1st ‘Green’ Subdivision received recognition in the local newspaper, The Sun Journal.   See the link: http://www.newbernsj.com/news/sales-65950-record-housing.html   This ‘green’ Subdivision is meeting the needs of buyers that want to save  money on their eletric bills and have a home that is energy efficient.

Stop by Croatan Crossing today, and see for yourself what a difference the Energy Star rating can make.

Yes Folks! You heard me right. We’re going “GREEN”. And once you realize just how much money you can save by owning an ENERGY STAR Certified Home, you’ll want to go “GREEN” too.

Croatan Crossing is located between New Bern and Havelock, NC, off of Hwy 70 East. It’s only 10 minutes from both Historic downtown New Bern and Cherry Point Air Station. It’s also  just  30 minutes from our beautiful Crystal Coast beaches.

I am proud to say that Croatan Crossing will be offering new homes that have earned the ENERGY STAR ® label. In order to earn the EPA’s ENERGY STAR, the home must meet strict guidelines for energy efficiency in the following 5 areas:

1. Effective Insulation Systems

2. High-Performance Windows

3. Tight Construction and Ducts

4. Efficient Heating and Cooling Equipment

5. ENERGY STAR Qualified Lighting and Appliances

These areas are validated by an independent third part to assure that each home meets all of the EPA’s requirements. Each phase of construction is reviewed on-site to confirm materials used and methods of proper installation.

Remember, I told you that an ENERGY STAR Home would save you money;  here’s how.   These homes save their owner’s considerable money on their electric bills.  They are  at least 15% more energy efficient than homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code (IRC), and include additional energy-saving features that typically make them   20-30% more efficient than standard homes.

Thanks to the EPA’s ENERGY STAR Program, we’re  providing homebuyers  with safer, healthier homes that help protect the environment by saving energy, and by moving our country into a low-carbon energy future.

A $6,500 Tax Credit has been approved for  qualified Buyers  who have owned their current homes at least five years and are moving up.

The $8,000 Tax Credit for 1st Time Home Buyers, or anyone who hasn’t  owned a home in the last 3 years,  has  also been extended.

To qualify, buyers in both groups have to sign a purchase agreement by April 30, 2010, and close by June 30, 2010.

The borrower income limits for both credits have been increased to $125,000 for individuals and $225,000 for couples.
