2. High-Performance Windows
3. Tight Construction and Ducts
4. Efficient Heating and Cooling Equipment
5. ENERGY STAR Qualified Lighting and Appliances
These areas are validated by an independent third part to assure that each home meets all of the EPA’s requirements. Each phase of construction is reviewed on-site to confirm materials used and methods of proper installation.
Remember, I told you that an ENERGY STAR Home would save you money; here’s how. These homes save their owner’s considerable money on their electric bills. They are at least 15% more energy efficient than homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code (IRC), and include additional energy-saving features that typically make them 20-30% more efficient than standard homes.
